ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday passed the judgment that PTI leader Imran Khan’s speech in Abbotabad was tantamount to treason for which the firebrand politician would be tried in the court of law.

“The state, the constitution , and the respected institutions of Pakistan were challenged by the PTI leader Imran Khan ….” Shehbaz  said in a statement broadcast by the state-run news agency, Associated Press of Pakistan.

He said such reckless narratives warrant legal action, which would be taken in due course against the former prime minister.

“Those concocting a narrative against national institutions are the real Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq.”

The aforementioned individuals are two military generals from 18th century British India, whose names later became the metaphor for Ghaddar (treasonist).

“What Khan is doing is conspiracy not politics and it was not against any political rivals but the country,” Shehbaz said.

“Pakistan’s integrity cannot be sacrificed at the altar of one man’s ego, arrogance, and blatant lies.”
The Prime Minister said Khan first conspired to destroy the economy and was now conspiring to spark off a civil war in Pakistan, he said.

Vowing to crush Khan’s alleged nefarious designs at all cost, Shehbaz dubbed him as this era’s Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq, who wanted Pakistan to face the same fate as Libya and Iraq.

“Khan coincidently also has a fake certificate of Sadiq, like Mir Sadiq,” the PM said.

He said the cricketer-turned-politician was rocking the very boat he was on and biting the hand that was feeding him.

“The people of Pakistan, the constitution, and the institutions of Pakistan are not the slaves of Imran Niazi, nor can he hold them hostage,” he lambasted.

He said PTI’s Khan would not be allowed to become the Hitler of Pakistan.

“Khan has lied to the nation all this time, it’s time he faced the truth,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.
