RAWALPINDI: As he visited Quetta on Monday as part of his nationwide tour itinerary in the wake of May 9 mayhem, army chief Gen Asim Munir laid emphasis on the military’s prowess in the fifth-gen warfare along with preparedness in conventional and unconventional warfare.
“General Syed Asim Munir, COAS visited Quetta Garrison where he addressed officers of Command & Staff College Quetta”, a statement put out by the military’s PR wing at Rawalpindi said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement added that the commander-in-chief “emphasised upon operational preparedness for conventional, sub-conventional and 5th Generation Warfare”.
The term fifth-generation warfare (5GW) describes warfare conducted primarily through non-kinetic military action, such as social engineering, misinformation, and cyberattacks, including through the employment of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and fully autonomous systems.
Propaganda and misinformation were the key vectors of attack employed by the party of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9, when it unleashed violent hordes of brainwashed party workers to attack military installations and monuments at several locations across the nation.
Marked by unprecedented acts of vandalism and arson attacks, the day has since been declared Black Day by both the political leadership and military brass. There is ample evidence that Khan’s party continues to engage in hostile propaganda and misinformation targeting the armed forces.

In his Quetta address, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said, “Those who are making futile efforts to drive a wedge and weaken the unbreakable bond between the people of Pakistan and its Armed Forces will never be able to succeed Insha Allah.”
He said the armed forces of Pakistan remain perpetually indebted to the valiant and proud people of Pakistan who, “through the recent manifestation of their unique love for their armed forces across the length and breadth of the country, have given a befitting reply to the nefarious designs of the enemy and their collaborators”.
The COAS further stated that the nexus between the internal collusive elements and external forces to create instability has amply been exposed to the people of Pakistan”.
He asserted that Pakistan army, being one of the strongest armies of the world, “with the blessings of Allah and undaunted support of proud people of Pakistan, can neither be deterred nor coerced by anyone, Alhamdolillah”.
The army chief also visited various welfare schemes for soldiers in Quetta Garrison. He was earlier received by Commander Quetta Corps Lt-Gen Asif Ghafoor.
