ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet Friday approved the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to formally and transparently investigate the serious allegations of sexual harassment against former Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal.

Federal Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzaib has confirmed the case of Tayyaba Gul, who professes to be a victim of sexual harassment by the former judge, came up for discussion at the cabinet meeting.

Tayyaba Gul lodged her complaint on the former government’s PM portal and was told that her complaint had been forwarded to the Ministry of Human Rights.

The PM’s office contacted Tayyaba Gul and when she and her husband showed up, she says they were kept under duress at the Prime Minister’s House for 18 days.

“We have been listening to Imran Khan’s PM portal advertisement for four years. A complaint was lodged for which [the complainant] was abducted for 18 days instead of taking action”, Information Minister said. “The PM’s office collected evidence from Tayyaba Gul and used it to blackmail Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal”,

After due deliberations, the Cabinet approved in principle the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to formally and transparently investigate the serious allegations of sexual harassment against former Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal.

Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar was directed to propose a three-member panel for the term of the commission and its head.
