ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest oil and gas explorer, said on Monday it had increased its oil and gas production from four wells in Sindh province using cutting-edge technologies.

The company said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that it had achieved significant production enhancement in July from Nim East-1, Pasakhi-11, Chak 2-1 and Chak-V Dim South-3 wells, located in different districts of Sindh.

Nim East-1, an exploratory well in a joint venture with OGDCL as operator with 95% stake and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) with 5%, added 585 barrels per day (BPD) of oil, 7.4 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 32 metric tons per day (MTD) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the system.

The gas from Nim East-1 is being injected into Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network since July 20 and is under observation, OGDCL said.

Pasakhi-11, a well in OGDCL’s 100% owned Pasakhi oil field, saw an increase of 1,010 BPD of oil after the installation of an electrical submersible pump (ESP). The well is currently producing 1,810 BPD of oil and is still under observation for optimum flow rates, the company said. The enhanced production from Pasakhi-11 started from July 28.

Chak 2-1, an exploratory well in a joint venture with OGDCL as operator with 62.5% stake, GHPL with 22.5% and Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) with 15%, recorded an increment of 140 BPD of oil, 4.7 MMSCFD of gas and 11 MTD of LPG after rigless intervention with additional perforations.

The gas from Chak 2-1 is also being injected into SSGCL network since July 20 and is under observation, OGDCL said.

Chak-V Dim South-3, a development cum exploratory well in OGDCL’s 100% owned Chak-5 Dim South block, added 130 BPD of oil, 3.8 MMSCFD of gas and 8 MTD of LPG after rigless intervention with new perforations.

The gas from Chak-V Dim South-3 is being injected into SSGCL network since July 24 and is under observation, the company said.

OGDCL is the largest oil and gas exploration and production company in Pakistan with a market capitalisation of about $4.6 billion. It operates more than 50 oil and gas fields across the country and contributes about half of the country’s total oil production and about a quarter of its total gas production.
