ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal government will provide educational scholarships to Afghan students.
The government has approved Rs 12.8 billion for at least 4,500 scholarships for students belonging to war-ravaged Afghanistan for completion of their education in different institutions across Pakistan.
The project, Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship for Afghan National Students (Phase-III), has been approved by the ECNEC .
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will execute the project in 8 years period.
The Committee for Reconstruction & Rehabilitation of Afghanistan (CRRA) in its 16th meeting decided that scholarship program for Afghan students may be planned for a decade.
Hence, the proposed scheme including 4,500 scholarships has been prepared and submitted by HEC. The main objective of this project is to place Afghan students in different institutions across Pakistan.
The CDWP recommended the project to the ECNEC at a rationalized cost of Rs12,686 Billion including FEC of Rs69.970 million.
Keeping in view the importance of Pak-Afghan historic and geo-strategic relations, finance division has extended its support for approving the project.
