Pakistan’s Abdul Joshi summits Mt Everest

A native of Shimshal valley of Hunza in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, Abdul Joshi travelled with an elite international expedition

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Abdul Joshi has summited Mount Everest along with an elite international team of mountaineers, the Pakistan Alpine Club has said.

Joshi is part of a 13-member Everest expedition team led by Nepalese mountaineer Mingma Gyalje Sherpa (Mingma G) of Imagine Nepal. The team summitted world highest mount Everest Sunday.

A native of Shimshal valley of Hunza in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, Abdul Joshi became the first Pakistani to summit Nepal’s Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8,091m, in 2021. He also led a 12-member Pakistani team to the first-ever summit of the Passu Cones.

Located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas , Mount Everest is the earth’s highest mountain peak above sea level. It straggles the China–Nepal border, with the line running through the summit point. Its elevation was established most recently in 2020 at 8,848.86 m by Chinese and Nepali authorities.
