ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

The delegation, which includes key figures such as Saudi Minister of Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Al Khorayef, and Deputy Minister of Investment Badr Al Badr, was welcomed at Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Airbase by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

This visit follows a recent meeting in Makkah Al Mukarramah between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where they discussed accelerating a $5 billion investment package vital for Pakistan’s economy.

The investment is expected to help Pakistan address its current account deficit and meet the International Monetary Fund’s foreign financing requirements, a crucial aspect of ongoing bailout discussions.

The Saudi delegation’s agenda includes meetings with Pakistan’s president, prime minister, foreign minister, and military chief, as well as discussions with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to advance joint ventures and increase export capacity.

A statement from state-run Pakistan Television highlighted the visit’s significance, noting it as a reflection of the renewed trust and cooperation between the two countries.

The talks are expected to focus on the implementation of the next stages of investment, with the aim of boosting economic growth and confidence in Pakistan’s economy, the statement said.

“A new closeness, innovation and warmth is being seen in Pakistan’s relations with its always reliable and brotherly countries, especially Saudi Arabia.”
