Two draft laws seeking to regulate the medical profession are due back in Senate in two days.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Monday sent two bills regulating the medical profession to a select committee for due consideration.
Earlier, Senator Saleem Mandviwala presented the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Amendment Bill and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Amendment Bill on the floor of the Upper House of the Parliament.
On this occasion, Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel said that the purpose of the bill is to take entrance test from students in the provinces.
He said that last year due to strict rules of PMC, 55 percent seats of Sindh and Balochistan remained vacant in the medical field and 16 thousand children took medical admission in foreign countries due to which 9 billion dollars went out of the country.
He said that due to the procedure given by the Pakistan Medical Commission, a lot of problems have come to light, at that time the MD CAT test has been kept at 65% and this standard is not even in America and in this institution from Sindh and Balochistan. There is no representative
PMC has been isolated by the international organization and similarly the American Medical Licensing Organization has also banned it and none of our doctors can go to America.
He said that at this time audit objections of 3 billion have been raised on PMC. Millions of children of the country are looking towards this House today and are suffering from hesitation.
“We make laws for the welfare of the people”, the Minister said. “We accept the amendments made by the House on this bill. I request that this bill be passed for the future of the children”.
Chairman Senate said that there were too many amendments in the bills, sending them to the committee and instruct the committee to consult on the bill within two days and send it back to the House.
