The FBR says its staff at Torkham have foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) says its Peshawar Customs Appraisement department staff have seized weapons sourced from a third country being smuggled in from Afghanistan concealed in a vehicle.

“At the Pak-Afghan Torkham border acting upon credible information,Customs staff at Import terminal stopped a vehicle having Reg. No. KBL 2572”, said an official. “The scan of the vehicle was also abnormal.”
Upon detailed inspection, the team recovered 31 new, Turkiye-made 12 gauge rifles, 11 butts of 12 gauge rifles, and 524 rounds of ammo for the same weapons.
The weapons and ammo were concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle with the fuel tank.The estimated worth of the concealed goods is approx PKR 4 million. Officials say an FIR is being lodged and further investigation is underway.
The Chief Collector Customs KPK of FBR Muhammad Saleem has ordered the Customs staff at the border post to heighten their vigilance to curb any attempt at smuggling.
