Saudi flood relief help arrives

The second consignment from KSA in as many weeks, consists of 2,000 food packages, each containing 95 kg of essential food items enough to last an average family a month.

ISLAMABAD: A second consignment of relief goods has been handed over to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for the benefit of flood-hit people of Balochistan and other areas in Pakistan, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) said Friday.

The consignment comprises 20 emergency relief trucks carrying 190 tons of essential food items. It consists of 2,000 food packages, each weighing 95 kg and containing 80 kg of wheat flour, 5 litres of cooking oil, 5 kg of Sugar, and 5 kg of daal chana – deemed adequate to feed an everage family for the whole month.

“The food bags will be distributed in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and local government” KSRelief said in a statement. “More than 14,000 people will benefit from this emergency relief.”

Last week, KSRelief distributed 3,000 food packages among flood affected people in 6 districts of Baluchistan including Lesbela, Khuzdar, Quetta, Pishin, Killa Saifullah, and Killa Abdullah.

This project comes under the umbrella of humanitarian activities by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to assist affected families in Pakistan.
