ISLAMABAD: The only civilian elected leader to ever complete his term of office in the political history of Pakistan has swung into action to help usher in a semblance of political stability in the country, Independent Pakistan can report.

A seasoned politician and a veteran leader, former President Asif Zardari will lead charge for the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition to thwart former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s push to dissolve the Punjab and possibly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assembly.

The meeting was held at Zardari House and discussed various issues and options regarding the future of Punjab Assembly and bringing a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, a Khan ally.

According to the sources, in this meeting, it was decided to bring the corruption of the Punjab government to the public. The details of what happened in Punjab during the tenure of former Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will also be brought to the public

Besides, President Zardari will use all his political experience and acumen to save the Punjab Assembly. Zardari is said to have assured the PDM leadership that he will play try his best to save the Punjab Assembly from dissolution.

Top PDM leadership – including PML-N leaders former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman – has already reposed its trust in him in this regard.

The sources said that in the next few days, an important decision will be made regarding the change of the Punjab government and the no-confidence motion, in which Asif Zardari will play the key role.
