ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani military has termed the speculation about a visit to the United States by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir as baseless.
“Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the United Kingdom from February 5 to 10”, said a press note put out by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), adding, “speculations are baseless”.
Gen Asim Munir is on a visit to the United Kingdom. Over the past couple of days, the social media has been rife with unsubstantiated claims that the COAS secretly left the UK for an unannounced visit to the US. The ISPR clarification rubbishes this claim.
the military’s PR wing said the Army Chief is participating in the Fifth Conference regarding the stability of Britain and Pakistan, in which military cooperation between the two countries would be discussed.
The conference, in which the senior leadership of the Pakistan military routinely participates, has been a regular annual features since 2016.
