ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Ali Amin Gandhapur’s gunman on Wednesday allegedly opened fire and wounded a young motorist for not letting the lawmaker’s security detail overtake him on a narrow road leading to Banigala House, former premier Imran Khan’s palatial residence, it is learnt.
Police arrested the gunman identified as Misal Khan on charges of armed assault and inflicting grave bodily harm to Waleed Abbasi, a local of Bani Gala, who was rushed to hospital after the incident. He was shot in the leg.
A police spokesman said a case of attemped murder had been lodged against the alleged shooter.
“A brawl broke out between two parties over an issue of overtaking on which the security guards wrestled with locals and shot at and injured Waleed Abbasi,” the police added.
The victim was reportedly driving his cancer-battling father to a healthcare clinic when he ran into this trouble.
After the shooting, all the Gandapur’s gunmen escaped into Banigala House.
The police took the accused shooter in custody after raiding the Bani Gala House. No obstruction of the process of law was reported.
