LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Friday suspended the non bailable warrant to arrest to arrest Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in a corruption case.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, while hearing the case, stopped the Anti-Corruption Department of Punjab from taking action against the minister.
Minister Sanaullah had filed an application in the court for the cancellation of his arrest warrant issued by Special Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Akbar on October 8 in an alleged graft case.
Justice Khan also summoned the Director General Anti-Corruption, Punjab and the investigation officer along with the record on October 17.
According to Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister for Anti-Corruption Musaddiq Abbasi, Sanaullah had taken two plots as a bribe from an illegal housing society — the Bismillah Housing Scheme — in Chakwal district.
Abbasi accused said these two plots were still in the possession of Sanaullah and his wife, which itself was proof that he had got these as a bribe by using his official position. The case was registered in 2019 .
