ISLAMABAD: Wapda regulated household electricity prices will increase by 3.6444/unit for the last — April to June quarter, energy authority Nepra said in a statement on Friday, as it also allowed distribution companies to increase Re0.1918/unit as fuel charges adjustment for the month of August.

Both the adjustments will cost Rs97 billion to the electricity consumers. The amount will be recovered from the power consumers within next four months starting from October 2022 till January 2023.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority said the quarterly adjustment will not increase the consumers’ bills as the existing government notified Schedule of Tariff will be maintained during the first quarter of 2022-23.

Separately, Nepra directed K-Electric to pay Rs4.8862/unit back to power consumers in October 2022 bills, as it charged a higher price from consumers in August 2022.

The Karachi-based utility would adjust approximately Rs8.5 billion to consumers on account of monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA). This adjustment/relief would be available to all user categories of KE except lifeline power consumers, domestic consumers consuming up to 300 units, agricultural consumers, and electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS).

“It is hereby clarified that negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA is also applicable to the domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) meters irrespective of their consumption level.”
