The transmission infrastructure for the import of electricity from Iran to Gwadar has been completed. The future mega-port is also set to link up with the national grid via Jiwani.

ISLAMABAD: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) is fully geared to start supply of more than 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran to Gwadar in the next few days, a company spokesman in Lahore said in a statement.
The NTDC has completed the 29-km transmission line to enable import of more than 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran tested the transmission system, he said.
The development comes in pursuance of an agreement for the supply of an additional 100 megawatts of electricity the governments of Pakistan and Iran signed in June 2022.
The spokesman said the completion of the project will improve the power supply in Gwadar and Makran divisions.
In a separate development, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved a 132kV transmission line from Jiwani to Gwadar last June.
Gwadar relies on imported electricity from Iran and with the construction of the 132kV line, the port city will be connected to the national grid.
