ISLAMABAD: Two officers of the Pakistan Army were killed in an IED blast in the Kohlu area of the southern Balochistan province, the military’s Public Relations wing at Rawalpindi confirmed Friday.
Major Jawad and Captain Sagheer embraced martyrdom when an IED exploded close to their vehicle during a sanitisation operation of the area.

A press note issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said such cowardly acts by inimical elements cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan.
It said the security forces are determined to neutralise their nefarious designs even at the cost of blood and lives.
The military said: “Based on credible intelligence, a sanitisation operation was initiated on 10 Feb 23 in Kohlu area of Balochistan to deny terrorists any liberty of action.
“During the ensuing sanitisation of the area, an IED exploded close to the leading party. Resultantly, 2 x officers (Major Jawad and Captain Sagheer) embraced Shahadat and laid their lives in defence of the motherland against an externally perpetrated threat.
“The sanitization operation continues in the area to apprehend perpetrators and enemies of peace.
“Such cowardly acts by inimical elements cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan. Security forces are determined to neutralise their nefarious designs even at the cost of blood and lives.”
