ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan Friday notified a revision of its election programme for reserved seats for women and non-muslims to the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Baluchistan.
It however said the revision is subject to the outcome of a writ petition Writ Petition No.6173-P/2023, pending before the honorable Peshawar High Court.
According to the revised programme, the last date for the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be January 13, 2024. The last date for filing of appeals against decisions of the Returning Officer will be January 16, 2024. The Appellate Tribunal will have until January 19 to decide any appeals against the ROs’ decisions.
The revised list of candidates will be published on January 20, while the candidates will have until January 22 to withdraw their nominations. The final list of the contestants will be published on January 23, 2024.
The Commission said the revision came in exercise of powers conferred upon it vide Section 58 and 104 of the Elections Act, 2017.
