RAWALPINDI: The newly appointed Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza assumed his appointment of in an impressive ceremony at the Joint Staff Headquarters here Sunday.
The former Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Gen Nadeem Raza, graciously attended the ceremony along with large number of serving and retired officers of the three services.
Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, HI (M) reviewed the guard of honour and march past by a smartly turned out joint services contingent, who saluted the new CJCSC as he arrived at the venue.
A recipient of the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza was the second most senior three-star general of Pakistan army when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif picked him to be the CJCSC last week.
The most senior three-star general, Gen Asim Munir, was simultaneously picked to be the next Chief of Army Staff, and will assume his appointment after the incumbent COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa retires on November 29.
