ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday announced that it had successfully tested a new missile system, Fatah-II, that can hit targets up to 400 kilometers away with high precision.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said in a statement that Fatah-II is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, sophisticated navigation system and unique flight trajectory.
The weapon system is capable of engaging targets with high precision up to a range of 400 kilometers, it said.
The flight test was witnessed by senior officers from the army, navy and air force, as well as dedicated scientists and engineers, the ISPR said.
President Dr Arif Alvi, interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir congratulated the participating troops and scientists on successfully conducting the flight test.
The ISPR said that the test was part of Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen its deterrence and enhance its strategic stability in the region.
In October, Pakistan had tested the Ababeel Weapon System, a missile system that can carry multiple warheads and evade enemy radars.
