ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed six militants in two separate operations in the northwestern regions of Tank and North Waziristan, the military said on Friday.
The troops exchanged fire with militants in Tank district on Wednesday night and killed three of them, while seizing weapons and ammunition, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
“Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, three were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.
In another operation in North Waziristan, three more militants were killed in a gunfight with the forces, the ISPR said.
It said the slain militants were involved in attacks on security forces and civilians.
The military said it was clearing the areas of any remaining militants and had the support of local residents.
“Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism.”
The operations come days after security forces killed three militants, including a commander, in Bajaur district, another northwestern region bordering Afghanistan
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as killing of innocent citizens,” the ISPR said.
