ISLAMABAD: The police say they turned up sundry items of interest – including a passport, a satellite phone, and a handgun – when they raided one of two secondary residences of Shahbaz Gill Tuesday, but the latter denies any connection with some of them.

The chief of staff of former Prime Minister Imran Khan is under arrest on charges of incitement to mutiny in the armed forces, was in handcuffs when he was brought to his Parliament lodges quarters. The Islamabad Territory (ICT) Police party that accompanied him to his Parliament Lodges luxury suite was headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police.

According to the police, a pistol and a mobile phone were found in the room. Regarding the pistol, Shahbaz Gill said that this pistol was not his. The police have said that a case is being registered for the pistol recovered from Shehbaz Gill’s room in Parliament Larges.

Police say a satellite phone has also been recovered from the room. Apart from this, the police also found a red diary, but Gill said it was not his.

According to police sources, two passports, one USB and a license for AK-47 gun were also found from Shahbaz Gill’s luxury suite, on which Shahbaz Gill said that the license was his but he used the weapon elsewhere, not here.

This Parliament Lodges luxury suite is one of two secondary residences maintained by Gill, the other being a room at Punjab House. His primary residence is a farmhouse at Gulberg Greens, Islamabad.

It is unclear why a person like Gill would need keep items like a pistol or a satellite phone at a secondary residence. The police have not said who the passport found there belongs to.

During the raid, a heavy police force was present outside the Parliament Lodges.
