ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Airports Authority will temporarily suspend all flight operations at Islamabad International Airport for two hours on Monday due to operational reasons.
The Pakistan Airports Authority said in a statement posted on X that arrivals and departures at the facility will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time. It advised passengers to check directly with their airlines for any schedule updates. “Due to operational reasons, flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will remain temporarily suspended on 16 March 2026 from 08:30am to 10:30am PKT,” the authority said.
A related notice to airmen, or Notam, detailed restrictions on segments of air traffic service routes inside the Lahore flight information region. Those segments will be unavailable from the surface to flight level 210, according to the advisory. The Notam explicitly closed arrival and departure operations at Islamabad International Airport and instructed arriving aircraft to carry sufficient holding fuel to handle potential delays.
The measure follows a similar Notam issued on March 12 that imposed the same route limitations for three hours and 15 minutes. Media reports at the time linked that earlier closure to rehearsals for a flypast ahead of Pakistan Day celebrations scheduled for March 23. The latest advisory comes against the backdrop of regional developments. Earlier this month, days after the Iran war began, the PAA stated that Pakistan’s airspace remained “fully open, safe, and completely available for all civil aviation traffic.”
